Drawing inspiration from the popular ‘ice bucket challenge’ and its local spin off, rice bucket challenge, a group of engineering students in Telangana have come up with ‘one book challenge’ to help poor government school students.

The engineering students, who formed a voluntary organisation called, Techseva, had launched the book challenge on the occasion of Republic Day and it has since received an overwhelming response.

The idea is to challenge the youth to donate at least a single useful book to underprivileged students. “There is a huge response from the youth of our state and other states like Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh too. We have explained how one could take the challenge on our website www.techseva.in,” explains founder of Techseva and BTech final year student of Jayamukhi Colleges Manideep Anchoori.

Techseva will also issue letters of appreciation to those who take up the book challenge, he adds.

According to him, the main objective of Techseva – comprising students of Jayamukhi colleges, Narasmpet – is service to the poor.
