NTR University to Hold Online Medical Exam Tomorrow : India

Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh :

The NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) has made elaborate arrangements for the Postgraduate Medical Entrance Test (PGMET) 2015, scheduled to be held on March 1. For the first time, PGMET will be held online instead of the OMR-based examination pattern followed earlier.

NTRUHS vice-chancellor Dr T Ravi Raju said here on Friday that as a prelude they had conducted Super Speciality course exam and MSc Nursing exam also online, which were a success.

“The entire application process was online, including payment of entrance examination fee. Instead of challans, the fee was paid using credit, debit cards and internet banking. A total of 13,464 applications were received, of which 22 were invalid,” he said.

The computer-based exam will be held at 44 test centres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana — 18 in Andhra University region, six in Sri Venkateswara University region and 20 in Osmania University region (TS).

The total seats for PG courses and PG Diploma courses in various medical disciplines are 3,500 in both the states, of which 1,842 are in convener quota.  The university has taken enough precautions to ensure that the online exam is foolproof and there are no loopholes in the arrangements. “We have enough security features in place. Apart from local invigilators, personnel from university and medical colleges too will be monitoring the test centres.  Police personnel have also been roped in to ensure there are no malpractices,” Ravi Raju said.

“We have taken care of power backup and alternative arrangements have been made in case of system failure. Except hall-ticket, no other things, including wallets, purses, cell phones, pens, pencils or watches will be allowed into the examination hall. Every test centre will have cell phone jammers and biometric signatures of the candidates will be taken,” he added.

The preliminary key along with a copy of answersheets will be provided to the candidates in the evening and one day time will be given for making objections if any through emails. The final key and the results will be announced on March 7.
