“Smile Foundation” launches e-learning Centre in Gujarat : India

Ahmedabad:

A first of its kind e-learning centre has been launched in Gujarat to provide job oriented skills to youth.

The Smile Twin e-learning Programme (STeP) will provide skills to youth from urban slums and peripheral rural areas.

The centre has been launched by Smile Foundation alongwith Samsung Electronics as its sponsorship partner and Vadaj-based NGO Samvedana as its implementing partner.

The programme with an intake of 120 students will impart training of skill development apart from lessons in English proficiency, personality development, career counselling, placement support and basic computer education.

Smile Foundation has launched similar programme centres in other cities like Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai as well. The programme which has been running for the past eight years has proved to be successful in these cities. Out of the total 6,000 children who have applied for the programme in these cities, 5000 have been placed.
