UOM hosts workshop on ‘Higher Studies at Alabama Varsity, USA’ : India

Mysuru :

A day-long workshop on ‘Higher studies at University of Alabama, Huntsville, USA,’ organised by the College Development Council of University of Mysore in association with University of Alabama, commenced this morning at Maharaja’s College Centenary Hall here.

About 500 students of colleges affiliated to the University of Mysore and studying in final year of B.Com, BBM, BBA and B.Sc courses are participating in the programme which provides an insight to the admission process, scholarships and other information pertaining to higher studies at University of Alabama.

The programme was inaugurated by H.S. Ranganath, Chairman, Department of Computer Science, University of Alabama.

Presiding over the workshop, Mysore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa said that 1,400 students from 64 countries were studying at Mysore University. He added that students here should not shun from pursuing higher studies abroad as there were good schemes to offer financial assistance and scholarships to meritorious and deserving students. He advised the students to make best use of this innovative workshop.

Prof. Susan Steen of University of Alabama presented slides on admission process and other matter.

Council Director Lingaraj Gandhi, Prof. Hemanth Kumar of Computer Science Department, Prof. Harsha Patel of University of Alabama and others were present.
