Student body to assist minority development : India

The All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students’ Association (ACKHSA) will assist the Ministry of Minorities Affairs, Government of India in generating awareness and information about the various schemes and scholarship offers for the students.

Gautam Daniel Roy Choudhury, the ministry’s State level coordinator, Assam said the government at the Centre is focused towards uplifting the minorities with facilities for their allround development. He said that minorities do not only mean the Muslims, but also the Buddhists, the Christians and other communities living in the State.

“It becomes easy for the government to reach out to the people with the help of such student bodies coming to the front, taking the responsibility to create awareness among the people. ACKHSA has been doing phenomenal service for the development of students in the Barak Valley. I hope with their help, the intended beneficiaries will not be deprived of the various benefits and facilities like the pre-matric and post-matric scholarships, Prime Minister’s 15-point programme, etc., on offer,” Roy Choudhury said.

ACKHSA chief advisor Rupam Nandi Purkayastha said the association will volunteer with enthusiasm in rendering the services and will make sure that no beneficiary is deprived from enjoying the facilities. He thanked the coordinator for entrusting the association with such an important responsibility. “We are happy that the state coordinator has responded to our call and is eager for the development of the people of the Barak Valley,” Nandi Purkayastha said.
