Certificates & Cheques distributed to candidates trained under free training scheme- Hunar Se Rozgar Tak held at LPU : India

Ministry of Tourism’s free training scheme- ‘Hunar Se Rozgar Tak’ (HSRT) concluded at LPU School of Hotel Management & Tourism. The Hunar Se Rozgar Tak program was designed by MoT to provide skill based training for people who did not attain traditional education.

Eligibility of the program was 8th pass and most of the candidates were from nearby villages. In the first phase, 120 candidates were delivered Punjab Tourism & LPU certificates and cheques worth Rs 2 lakh.  Punjab Government had entrusted this scheme to LPU for creation of employable skills amongst youth belonging to economically weaker strata of the society. LPU School executed the project successfully and provided free courses in Food Production (Bakery Production & Patisseries) of 8-weeks and Housekeeping Utility (Food & Beverage Services) of 6-weeks. In the year 2013-14, a total of 240 students completed the course, and many of them have got employment with reputed establishments, or they have become young entrepreneurs.

LPU Director General Er HR Singla informed: “The basic objective of this scheme is to reduce skill gap that affected growing hospitality and tourism sector. In furtherance of this initiative, we trained the candidates from nearby villages who wanted to become cooks, waiters, bakery chefs and house-keepers so that they may be able to lead an independent life after completing a course. We are happy to inform that many of them have already started their career brilliantly.”

Illustrative, one of the candidates Jyoti Jhalley has been employed at Hotel Hyatt in Dubai as a trainee, other Shivam has opened 3 kiosks in Phagwara, Mayank is soon going to start a bakery outlet in Ludhiana, and many of the students are under training in many prestigious hotels.
