Shanthy Theeram in partnership with NSDC & MoT plans to start Ayurvedic Massage & Panchakarma course in Silvassa : India

Dadra and Nagar Haveli-based Shanthy Theeram Kerala Ayurvedic Panchakarma Centre is planning to start an Ayurvedic Massage & Panchakarma course in Silvassa in association with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India. This course is proposed to be a six-month programme. The main objective behind this initiative is to train local youth to enable them to be employed in the tourism and hospitality sector. Besides, the course aims to create skilled workforce of 5,000 by 2020, offer additional job opportunities to the local people, provide trained and qualified persons to the hospitality sector and ensure that the quality of service in tourism and allied sectors is excellent.

Speaking about the initiative, Jacob Thomas, Proprietor, Shanthy Theeram said that to maintain high standards of professionalism in any industry, it is very important to have trained personnel. Training improves the knowledge, skill and attitude of an employee, which in turn improves job performance, he added.

Shanthy Theeram is planning to start a chain of Ayurvedic centres in major hotels, resorts, malls, townships, IT parks, tourist places and metro cities. It is also setting up an Ayurvedic holistic health resort on the Khanvel-Dudhni stretch in Silvassa on about ten acres of land through PPP model. The main attractions of the project are furnished cottages, rooms and dormitories, meditation hall, yoga classes, separate section for men and women for nature cure, massage, steam bath, swimming pool, mud pond, herbal garden, plots for organic farming of fruit and vegetable, Ayurvedic facilities, walking path along the river, reading room and library, satvik (spiritual) food and opportunity to reach tribal inhabitation, share tribal folk songs and dances and indulge in social service.

Presently, Shanthy Theeram has tie-ups with major hotels and resorts in Silvassa, Vapi and Daman and is operating a full-fledged spa and beauty parlour in Neejanand resort in Anand.

Talking about Dadra and Nagar Haveli as a Health Tourism destination, Thomas said that the natural environ is one of the major strengths of the destination with 40 per cent of the land under forest cover, a huge dam reservoir at its disposal and the river Daman Ganga passing through the union territory. This offers a great potential to us for developing Health Tourism products. It is proposed that Health Tourism would be one of the major products that Dadra and Nagar Haveli will offer to health tourists. These tourists would be offered a total rejuvenation package in the region, which has environs suitable for spiritual meditation, yoga and nature cure and rich and edifying experience of rural and tribal life far from the madding crowds, he added.
