Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh :

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has provided financial assistance to nurture and enrich the lives of primitive tribe Baiga for making them socially and economically empowered.

An NTPC spokesman said NTPC Sipat has sanctioned Rs 4 lakh to Bilaspur district administration for their uplift. After independence, various developmental programmes have been carried out by Central and state governments towards their development.

Under these developmental schemes, action plan on education, health and employment of Baiga’s are run by Bilaspur district administration. In order to educate the children of Baiga tribe, they are getting enrolled in residential schools, where they will get good environment for education and sports. Apart from this, various self-employment training programmes are run to provide them self-employment for their daily needs.
