The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers various scholarships and funding schemes for Indian and German students, academics and scientists.
PhD scholarships: Scholars with a Master’s degree in any subject can apply at any university and research institute in Germany. There should be no more than a six-year gap between the award of last degree and application deadline.
Candidates must have a recent dated acceptance letter from a German Professor. Duration of the scholarship is three years.
Sandwich Model Scholarships: Scholars registered for PhD at an Indian university or research institute may carry out the research thesis in Germany under the joint supervision of Indian and German professors. A PhD degree will be awarded by the Indian university or institution.
Scholarship for law: Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding — Dr. Angela Merkel Scholarship; Master’s Scholarship for European Law provides scholarship to do a Master’s degree (LLM) in European Law at one of the selected German universities.
The target group is highly qualified graduates with a first university degree in law (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
