Scheme for backward class students : India

The department of social welfare has come out with a new scheme for the students of backward communities who sometimes have to give up schooling half-a-way because of the poverty.

The social welfare department under its new scheme ” Saral Vidya sahay” will give monthly allowance of Rs 225 to Rs 227 to students who find it difficult to continue education for want for monetary assistance from the family. Students studying in the class XI and XII however will be given monthly of allowance 160 to Rs 750.Monthly allowance will be deposited in the bank account of each applicant student opened especially, for the purpose by the department.

The quantum of amount paid as an allowance to each student will be decided by the course he/she is pursing, he said.

Any student belonging to a backward class with an annual family income of less than 1.5 lakh, will be eligible to avail benefit under this scheme.

Besides, social welfare department also provide financial assistance to buy books to the students of the backward class who have enrolled in professional colleges.
