BISP training opens new vistas for economic uplift’: Pakistan

The interest free loan to jobless youth for initiating their own business under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) would not only improve the socio economic condition of the beneficiaries but it also opens a new vista of economic development in the country, said Dr Nadeem Maqbool, MPA, MQM.

He vowed to eliminate the poverty from the society. He said that BISP was launched in line with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

Maqbool expressed these views while speaking as a chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the training of 83 jobless youths under Waseela-e-Haq Sindh scheme who received Rs 0.3 million interest free loan for launching their own business under BISP. BISP is not limited to only one political party but is serving the genuine beneficiaries all over Pakistan without any discrimination.

Pervaiz Iqbal, Director HQ, BISP Sindh also informed that jobless youth had been selected through balloting by President Asif Ali Zardari for grant of interest free loan up to Rs 0.3 million so that they could launch their own business and improve socio economic condition of their family members.

It offers Rs300,000 long-term interest-free financial assistance to be recovered in 15 years and is issued without any collateral. He said the government had started helping deserving people in education, health, insurance and introduced insurance scheme for the widows who lost their bread earners. Benazir Income Support Programme is not limited to only one political party but is serving the genuine beneficiaries all over Pakistan without any discrimination.

“The Waseela-e-Haq Sindh Scheme will help thousands of families graduate out of the monthly subsistence, and set up their own small businesses and live a life of dignity and self respect.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Naveeda Warsi, Director Karachi, said that under BISP, different projects had been launched by the government aimed to eradicate poverty and improve the socio economic condition of the poor people of the country. The programme is being run out in transparent manner with availability of all required data of the beneficiaries, she added.
