Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan scheme to receive funding from external agencies soon: India

New Delhi:

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has okayed the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s recommendation to bag funding from external agencies for Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan scheme.

The scheme will receive $500 million from International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank.

It will also bag £80 million as grant-in-aid from the UK Government’s Department for International Development, while European Union will sanction €25 million.

The nod is for overall grant-in-aid of nearly Rs 3,315 crore for the project implementation period 2012-16.

It has been decided that the present sharing pattern between Centre and state Governments of 75:25, which bagged nod for 11th Five Year Plan, will continue in this fiscal 2012-13.

The Union Cabinet also gave green signal to a recommendation by the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture, for setting up of Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology at Ranchi, Jharkhand in the 12th Five Year Plan.
