NCAS invites applications for Advocacy Internship Programme 2011-12
ADVOCACY INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME (AIP) is a unique venture of the National Centre for Advocacy Studies. Inaugurated in 1999, the AIP aims at developing a set of dedicated and active youth committed to social change and justice. It is a programme that caters to the needs of social activism and enriches participants with a political perspective, knowledge base, and skills required for effective people-centred advocacy.

The AIP is 15-months long programme and involves an in-house training, as well as exposure  to various people’s movements, campaigns, and grass-roots organizations. The AIP also provides each intern with a three-month placement period with a partner organisation.

The in-house training component engages with a multidisciplinary curriculum and syllabus that emphasises themes related to social change, such as – Understanding of the Indian Society, Polity and Economy, Issues in new Social Movements, Approaches to Social Change.  It also provides insight into the concepts and practices of advocacy, contemporary human rights activism, campaign building, networking, and research methodologies.

NCAS provides a conducive environment for a positive learning and working experience. The AIP is primarily designed to foster self-learning. The interns are encouraged to avail of other opportunities of learning such as seminars, workshops, lectures, in the city while also engaging in interactive collective learning.

Applications for the AIP will be reviewed and shortlisted candidates will be invited for a youth camp that is usually organised in September, during which the final selection is made. The AIP itself normally begins in October each year. On average, 8 interns are selected for each batch.
