If you are stuck with a mathematics problem at 11.30pm, don’t worry. A tutor is just a click away on your mobile. Class 10 and 12 students can learn physics, chemistry and maths from students of Indian Institutes of Technology and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) through a mobile app.
HashLearn Now – an education mobile app developed by a group of city-based techies — has roped in IITians and BITSians to provide tuitions round the clock to students preparing for their board and competitive exams. The app’s USP is the monthly %charge which is less than Rs 500. These students often spend Rs 30,000 to Rs 1 lakh on tuitions.
How the app works
Download the Android app from GooglePlay, choose a chapter you want to learn and upload the image of the question %or topic, you get connected to the tutor in 30 seconds. Instead of sending images, students can also use the doodle board %to send questions to the tutor. Once the doubts are cleared, students can even rate tutors.
“I love the fact that there’s someone to clear my doubts then and there. It connected me to a tutor within a minute. I don’t need to wait to get help,” said Kaushik M, a student from Bengaluru.
Another student Neelabh S, a student of Delhi Public School, RK Puram, New Delhi said, “Nice app! The explanation of the doubt was great, loved the interface. Really something a student needs — a companion that we can count on anytime we want help.”
“Our vision is to provide a high-quality private tutor to every student at scale, on-demand and at an affordable price – the holy grail of test prep. This app is a unique model that con nects students to tutors form premier engineering colleges using a WhatsApp-like mode,” said Jayadev Gopalakrishna, CEO, HashLearn Now. He said currently tuition is offered for three subjects but in the future, biology and other subjects will also be offered.
