Madras Veterinary College launches e-courses in partnership with UK college : India

Chennai, Tamil Nadu :

Madras Veterinary College, one of the constituent colleges of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, on Friday launched a range of e-courses in partnership with Royal Veterinary College, UK.

The e-courses, funded by the British Council under its knowledge economy partnership programme, is meant for the continuous professional development in veterinary and animal sciences.

Vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Dr S Thilagar said they would offer eight e-courses in four thematic areas, including veterinary clinical science, farm management, veterinary laboratory diagnosis and livestock product technology.

“This is the first time when a veterinary college in India is offering e-courses,” he said.

“There are about 55,000 veterinarians in the country. All practising veterinarians in the country and in the neighbouring countries can get benefited through these courses and can update their knowledge continuously considering the developments in clinical and husbandry subjects,” he added.

Each course comprises of approximately six to eight modules for a duration of 10 to 12 weeks. Apart from these modules, the courses also have pre and post evaluation, case studies, assignment and webinars.

Dr Ayona Silva Fletcher, course director from Royal Veterinary College, said it was the first time the London-based college was collaborating with an institution outside the UK.

The courses developed by both the institutions will be available at www.globalvetacademy.com.
