Coimbatore , Tamil Nadu :

A total of 1018 students were given scholarships to tune of Rs 1.02 crore during the founder’s day celebrations at Kumaraguru College of Technology on Saturday.

Best performers were given scholarships under the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Awards at the function as a tribute to the institution founder N Mahalingam. Similarly, 224 students were also awarded in various categories including gold medals for best performing students, best project and best outgoing student. Besides, 52 club awards were given.

According a press release from the college, a Bhoomi Pooja would be conducted on Sunday for  constructing ‘Maha Mandapam’, as part of the founder’s day celebrations. “The mandapam would be established in Dravidian architectural style. It will bring together the aesthetics of ancient temple structures and infuse contemporary dimensions and materials. The structure will portray the lives of N Mahalingam, Saint Vallalar and Mahatma Gandhi,” the statement read.
