US consulate invites application for cyber security, public diplomacy grants : India

Chennai, Tamil Nadu :

The public affairs office of the US consulate general Chennai has invited applications for two grant opportunities — ‘Cyber-Security Research and Innovation Contest’ and ‘Public Diplomacy Small Grants.’

NGOs and other recognized non-profit institutions that meet Indian and US technical and legal requirements can participate in the contest.

It is open to programmers and students of information technology, aged between 20 and 35 years.

The preliminary round of the contest will be held in six cities across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, and culminate in a grand finale in Chennai.

“While building general awareness about opportunities and challenges in the field of cyber security, this programme will also build interest in research and innovation in this field among young talents in India,” said a release.

Public Diplomacy Small Grants

Cooperative agreements/grants from non-governmental organizations and other legally-recognized non-profit institutions are also being sought.

These public diplomacy programmes must occur within Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry and the Andaman Islands and may include, but are not limited to, projects, seminars, workshops, cultural programs, exhibitions and outreach campaigns.

Proposals must focus on one of the following three priority areas of the US Mission to India: 1. Promote better US-India bilateral relations with emphasis on economic and educational ties; 2. encourage regional and global roles for India; and 3. enhance security cooperation.

The last date for submitting application is February 17
