India offers Scholarships to Sri Lanka’s Plantation Children : Sri Lanka

The Government of India has announced the award of scholarships to the children of Sri Lanka’s Indian-origin estate workers.

The High Commission of India has called for application from the children of estate workers for award of scholarships by the Ceylon Estate Workers Education Trust (CEWET). The deadline for receiving applications is May 30th, 2011.

The scholarships are available for G.C.E. Advance Level, undergraduate courses and for students undergoing vocational technical education in any of the Government Technical colleges.

Students who have passed G.C.E Ordinary or Advance Level examination with either Mathematics or Arithmetic at the G.C.E. ‘O’ Level examination and below 25 years of age are eligible to apply.

The completed applications forms must be accompanied by photocopies of birth certificate, result sheet of GCE ‘O’ or ‘A’ level, latest salary slip of parents and Estate Superintendent’s certificate regarding Parent’s occupation.

Application forms are available at the High Commission of India,36-38, Galle Road, Colombo-03 and the Assistant High Commission of India, No.31, Rajaphilla Mawatha, Kandy.

Duly completed forms should reach the :

Honorary Secretary, CEWET c/o High Commission of India, P.O. Box 882, Colombo-03, on or before 30th May, 2011.
