The paediatric wing of State-run Gandhi Hospital on Monday completed two years of implementing National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) projects aimed at improving the malnutrition status of infants in the State. The paediatric department is the only government facility in the State having a dedicated 20-bedded nutritional rehabilitation centres for Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) infants.

“We also have a 50-bed hi-tech specialised new born acre unit for very critical infants. In fact, under NRHM, we are also providing training to health care providers in handling infants with acute malnutrition. We have come out with special annual reports of NRHM projects, which were released on Monday,” said Head, Paediatric Dept, Gandhi Hospital, Dr. J. Venkateshwar Rao.

At a function, hospital Superintendent Dr. M. Chandra Sekhar released the special editions on NRHM projects. On the occasion, the department doctors also felicitated Dr. Chandra Sekhar, who superannuates by the end of the month.
