CM assures full benefits of all schemes to minorities: India

Imphal, Manipur :

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has said that the State Government would take up all possible measures to ensure full benefits of all schemes to the minorities.

He was speaking as Chief Guest during the observance of Minorities’ Rights Day organized by Manipur State Minorities Commission at Maharaja Chandrakriti Auditorium, Palace Compound here today.

Ibobi further said that steps have also been taken up by the Government for direct cash transfer to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries for various welfare schemes.

Hailing India as a land of unity in diversity, the Chief Minister maintained that there is no disparity among people belonging to major and minor communities.

The Government is responsible to uphold the rights of the minorities, he noted.

The Government has taken up various schemes and programmes for the welfare of the minorities.

The payment for all schemes including scholarships for students would be made directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.

Moreover, the Government officials are closely monitoring the implementation of various schemes for minorities in the State, Ibobi stated.

The Chief Minister also appealed to all to shed communal hatred and promote peace and harmony in the State.

The observance was also attended by Chairperson of Manipur State Commission for Minorities Halim Choudhury as President, while Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir, Parliamentary Secretary of MOBC Md Amin Shah, MLA Md Fajur Rahim, MLA Paonam Brojen, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, Member of Manipur State Minorities Commission Prof MS Ningomba and Rev N Devendra as Guests of Honour.
