Puducherry backward classes and minorities’ development corporation will hold a loan mela cum awareness campaign at 9am on November 30 in Tamizh Thirumana Nilayam, Sokkanathanpet. The corporation will furnish details on various welfare schemes such as grant of educational loan, term loan, micro finance and coaching classes for civil services’ examinations et al for the benefit of the members of backward and minority classes.

Welfare minister P Rajavelu said chief minister N Rangasamy will inaugurate the mela and also launch a new scheme to extend loans to women self-help groups.

He said the corporation will hold a two-day training programme on December 14 and 15 to encourage minority youth to take up self employment ventures. The corporation will hold an expo from January 10 to 24 at Gandhi Thidal. The corporation which extended Rs 3 crore as financial assistance to the beneficiaries for the year 2012-13 will also extend equal amount for the current financial year.
