Over 700 persons screened in free medical camp by Umeed: India

Umeed Foundation on Sunday organized a free multi-specialty medical camp at village Bhalwan in which as many as 767 persons were screened for various ailments.

The camp was inaugurated by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary and Dhuri MLA Arvind Khanna who is also the chairman of the foundation.

Addressing the people on the occasion, Khanna said the NGO was committed to providing free medical care for the poor and needy villagers who could not afford access to tertiary health care.

“The camp has been organized to provide medical aid to the needy villagers. The common man is unable to afford treatment at exorbitant prices. It is therefore a constant effort to provide better health care facilities to the people with the help of expert doctors from the reputed hospitals,” khanna added.

The doctors from Columbo Asia Hospital who offered their services in the medical camp checked the patients for various diseases including heart problems, diabetes, headache, ENT ailments, orthopaedic problems and diseases of the women and the children.

The patients were also given medicines free of charge. Thanking the NGO for holding the camp, the patients said it was a boon for them. “Had it not been for the camp, we could not have been able to avail of such expert medical help from specialist doctors. It was very highly beneficial for all of us,” a patient said.
