Guwahati :

The Rashtriya Madhyamik and Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) has formed an academic support and monitoring group at every district level to monitor the quality of education, student achievement, performance of teachers and infrastructure development of schools in the state.

The state consultant for quality improvement and pedagogy, Chandrani Borkataki, said, “The name of the programme is Dristi and the monitoring group is called Quality Assurance Group (QAG). The proposed new inspection framework will have 26 inspection groups for 26 districts of the state. One group consists of three eminent persons of each district or from outside the districts nominated by the inspector of schools and approved by the RMSA mission director.”

“The group will inspect 2,607 government and provincialised secondary and higher secondary schools and each QAG group will inspect 2 schools per day. These 26 groups will inspect 520 schools in a month. The project will start within few months,” he added.

After inspection, the group will submit a report to the RMSA state mission office.

The consultant said, “The main aim of the programme is to help students understand themselves, improve and assess the process of teaching and learning, help teachers in school management and encourage teachers to perform better.”
