More families to be included in neighbourhood groups: India

Kozhikode :

The district Kudambasree Mission  has started an intensive campaign, Neighbourhood Activities Nourishment through Massive Action (Nanma), to cover more families under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) of the central government. The state Kudumbasree Mission is the implementing agency of the scheme.

The district mission here has already completed a door-to-door survey to identify the families eligible to be enrolled in the Kudumbasree Mission. BPLfamilies, minority section and SC/ST families will come under the scheme.

The campaign at the local self-government body level is being carried out with an estimated sum of Rs 33 lakh.

According to the district Kudumbasree Mission office, the mission already has 4,28,680 families as members in its 21,816 neighbourhood groups. These groups were spread in the 75 panchayats, two municipalities of Vadakara and Koyilandy and the Kozhikode corporation. The survey has found that 48,600 families are eligible to be included in the scheme.

Assistant district mission coordinator N K Hareesh  said the mission will constitute 3,962 new neighbourhood groups in the district. “The mission has completed imparting training for staff engaged in the drive. We have almost completed the formation of 816 neighbourhood groups.” “The allotment of central fund to implement various livelihood schemes under the NRLM scheme will be depended on the addition of new families to the scheme,” he said. “The mission will complete the inclusion of families in the district before January 26.”

The Kudumbasree Mission will declare the district as 100% NRLM inclusion district on January 26. A district-level committee headed by district mission coordinator has been supervising the continuing process of inclusion of identified families under the scheme.
