‘MP— State where Govt thinks about daughters, their welfare’: India

In Madhya Pradesh, girls get opportunity to become ‘lakhpati’ since birth. A number of schemes like Ladli Laxmi Yojna are being implemented in the State for improving sex ratio.

Madhya Pradesh has established identity of a State where the Government is not only concerned over daughters’ future, but is also running a number of schemes for their welfare. Five-and-a-half years ago, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had launched novel scheme Ladli Laxmi Yojna. As a result of its effective implementation and monitoring, 12.72 lakh girls have become Ladli Laxmis so far.

Maximum 2.64 lakh girls have been benefited under Ladli Laxmi Yojna in Jabalpur division followed by 2.07 lakh girls in Indore division, 1.51 lakh girls in Ujjain and one lakh 34 thousand 418 girls in Sagar division.

In other divisions, 1.27 lakh girls got the benefit of Ladli Laxmi Yojna in Bhopal, one lakh girls in Gwalior, 97,694 girls in Rewa, 66,425 girls in Narmadapuram, 61,150 girls in Shahdol and 60,730 girls were benefited in Chambal division.

Among districts, Chhindwara has been on top in the scheme’s implementation by benefiting 57,271 Ladli Laxmis during last five years followed by Jabalpur where 56,017 girls were benefited. As many as 49,588 girls have been benefited in Indore district, 48,544 in Sagar, 43,406 in Balaghat, 42,668 in Bhopal, 42,086 in Dhar, 40,029 in Satna, 34,748 in Betul and 33,603 girls have been benefited in Seoni district.
