Madhya Pradesh’s special drive: Insurance cover to parents of girls: India

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that the state government will provide insurance cover to the parents of girls benefited under the Ladli Laxmi Yojna in the state.

“A special campaign will be launched from November 19 to October 12, 2013 in the state to remove misconceptions about daughters and special facilities will be extended to parents with only daughters in the state, said Chouhan while addressing the gathering at Kanya Poojan function at his official residence here on Tuesday.

He also administered a pledge to save daughters to those present on the occasion and also performed Kanya Poojan along with his wife.Chouhan said that insurance cover upto Rs 30,000 will be provided by the State Government to the parents of girls benefited under the Ladli Laxmi Yojna.

Benefit of the scheme has so far been extended to over 13 lakh girls in the state. A special campaign will be launched from Rani Laxmi Bai’s birth anniversary on November 19 to Vijayaraje Scindia’s birth anniversary of October 12. Under the campaign special programmes will be held on prevention of female foeticide and removal of misconceptions about girls.

A programme will also be held on the main road of every city in the presence of girls on November 19 for displaying mass against violence on women.He said that girls will be imparting training in judo-karate for self-defence.

Special advocates will be appointed for forceful action against atrocities on women. He said that every possible effort will be made to empower girls. World cannot survive without daughters.Awareness will have to be created in society about saving daughters. Girls should not be underestimated since women have achieved success in every sphere of life. Girls are not inferior in any respect.At the function, Chouhan and his wife Sadhna Singh performed Kanya Poojan. They washed girls’ feet.

Chouhan also felicitated brave girls of Sai Girls Hostel, Bhopal. He went round the photo exhibition put up by girls from Gwalior and Chambal divisions. He along with his wife also performed Garba. Workers of Anganwadi at Bamor in Morena district staged a play “Bandho Mutthi Behna”.

A dance-drama was also staged at the function. Gaur Samvardhan Board Chairman Shiv Chaube, MLA Vishwas Sarang, Chief Secretary R. Parasuram, GDP Nandan Dube and large number of girls from various regions of the state were present on the occasion.
