WDC to extend `1 cr loan under NHFDC this fiscal: India

Leh, June 28:

J&K State Women Development Corporation in collaboration with National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) organized a day-long capacity building programme for differently abled women beneficiaries here today.
Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh, Rigzin Spalbur inaugurated the camp.  Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NHFDC, Harsh Bhal was the guest of honour. DDC, Leh, Tsering Angchuk, besides senior officers of the district administration Leh also participated in the camp.
In his inaugural speech, the Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC appreciated the “efforts of WDC for socio- economic uplift of differently abled beneficiaries of Leh.”
He stressed that more efforts are needed to be made in this regard so that more number of physically disabled Women could avail the benefit of the welfare schemes.
He underscored the need for organizing such workshops in future also. He urged the JKWDC to establish full-fledged district office in Leh for effective implementation of NHFDC and other welfare schemes in the area.
Managing Director, Dr Naheed Soz highlighted various activities and “achievements” of WDC.
She thanked NHFDC for sponsoring  the workshop.
“The WDC started NHFDC schemes  in 2004 with four beneficiaries and till date have disbursed Rs 1.77 crore amongst 175 differently abled beneficiaries and  will be disbursing  loans of Rs 1 crore amongst 60 beneficiaries during current fiscal.”
Chairman cum Managing Director NHFDC highlighted various schemes of NHFDC for the differently- abled persons; like self employment, education loan, aids & appliances and also enlightened the audience about the scholarship schemes of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment where a disabled student studying professional course could avail scholarship of up to Rs 1 lakh per annum.
He said the disabled student can apply online on www.nhfdc.nic.in.
