Hungary to provide educational scholarships to Sri Lanka

The Hungarian government has offered to provide a series of educational scholarships to Sri Lanka in the health fields.

During a meeting with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the sidelines of the Rio+20 summit on Friday, his Hungarian counterpart President Janos Ader has offered Hungary’s assistance to provide scholarships for medical and dental studies.

The two leaders have also discussed effective water resource management in both countries and solar power as an alternative source for future energy requirements.

External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris, Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Construction Engineering Services Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and Sri Lankan Ambassador to Brazil Mahinda Balasuriya were also present at the occasion.
