Shujaat announces new package for overseas Pakistanis

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday announced a welfare package for the overseas Pakistanis.

Talking to reporters at the Pakistani High Commission in London, Shujaat said that under the new package every Pakistani worker living abroad would be entitled to a Rs 1 million life insurance. He said that in case of any mishap, it would be the responsibility of the Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) to cargo the body of the deceased from the place of his demise to his house in Pakistan or Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the family of the deceased would be paid Rs 50,000 at the airport for meeting burial expenses and Rs 1 million as insurance money.

He said the Sahara Health Insurance was a subsidiary of the EOBI and it would be making these payments, adding that the EOBI would also meet the expenses from taking the body from place of death to the airport, irrespective of PIA service available there or not.

The PML-Q leader said the Group Accidental Insurance Scheme is also being extended to all journalists and cameramen. He said that in case of death, the family of the deceased journalist or cameraman would be paid Rs 1 million, in case of permanent disability Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 would be given in case of temporary disability.

On the political front, Shujaat announced to dissolve all overseas chapters of his party. He also said that no political party should have overseas wings.
