Vocational training institute set up at Sanghol: India

Sanghol, Chandigarh:

Cordia Educational Institutes launched its Vocational Skills Training Institute at Cordia Educational Complex, Sanghol, on Chandigarh-Ludhiana Road, in collaboration with Vocational Training Charitable Trust, UK, on Saturday.

Announcing the launch, Lord Diljit Rana, Member of House of Lords, UK, and founder of Cordia Educational Complex said the certificate issued after the completion of the course would be internationally recognised.

“ Around 12 million people join the workforce, every year. This talent pool needs to be adequately skilled for country’s economy to grow,” Rana said, while reiterating the need to have job-oriented courses to train Indian youngsters.

Andrew Jackson, Counsellor of Knowledge Economy, British High Commission, India, who was the chief guest at the function, said there were enormous jobs in the market, but dearth of people with right skills.Elaborating on the courses, Rana said the institute would initially offer two courses – beauty therapy and hairdressing – for Rs 70,000.

The courses, which are six-months long, will begin from July 2012, and have 25 students. The institute will offer training and commercial services.
