53.6 % Scholarships Go to Girl Students under the P0st-Matric Scholarship Scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs: India

Under the Post-matric Scholarship Scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, 53.60 % scholarships have gone to the girl students during the current Financial Year (as on 31.1.2012).

As per the latest data available with the Ministry of Minority Affairs, as on 31st January 2012, a total of 5,10,863 students have been awarded Post-matric scholarships; out of which 2,73,805 are girl students ( which is 53.60 %) and the number of boy students is 2,37,058. For the award of these 5,10,863 Post-matric scholarships the Ministry of Minority Affairs has sanctioned Rs. 267.10 crore (as on 31.1.2012).

Post-matric Scholarship Scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs is provided to the students from class XI up to Ph.D. belonging to the Minority communities. The scheme was launched in the year 2007-08 and a cumulative total of 16.18 lakh scholarships have been awarded till 31st January 2012. Last Financial Year the Ministry provided 5.25 lakh Post-matric Scholarships (though the target fixed was 4 lakh) – of which 51% were girl students.

As per the general guidelines for the said Scheme, 30% Scholarships are reserved for the girl students.
