UP Rashri Tandon Open University to launch new courses : India

The authorities of UP Rashri Tandon Open University  of the district would be starting three new diploma courses from the coming academic session. Giving imputes to the skill India programme of the government, students can pursue diploma in Nursing attendant, printing technology and gardening from this lone open university of the state.

The courses would commence for the interested students from the coming academic session (July 2017).

The Executive Council (EC) of the university has approved conducting a two year diploma in printing technology. The semester based diploma would train skilled force for the potential market in the field of printing. Along with this, the university would also be starting certificate and diploma courses in gardening, watershed management, nursing assistance and geriatric care. The course content and other formalities needed for commencing these courses have already been done at the university level so that the Open University could take admission from coming July onward.
“We have already prepared the course content for running a two courses on Yoga i.e. postgraduate diploma in Yoga and postgraduate degree in Yoga”, said the vice-chancellor of UPRTOU, Prof M P Dubey.
The EC also approved conducting a lecture series in remembrance of Deen Dayal Upadhayay. The lecture series would be held on a yearly basis. For conducting a course in the field of human rights and its responsibility, the EC has decided to introduce and paper in all the UG level courses.
Envelopes, containing the names of persons appointed as faculty members and on other administrative posts at the university, were also opened at the EC meeting.

The EC also approved the decision of expanding the campuses of the lone open university of the state at Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Lucknow. “We have started the correspondence with the development authorities of these cities for procuring the land needed for expansion of the study centers of the university”, said Prof Dubey. UPRTOU also proposes to open a regional office at Lucknow which would cater to the needs of the students of western UP side, he added.
