: The recruitment rally for the army covering seven districts in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry region began here last week. The rally will last till 31st of this month.

Candidates who have applied online to participate in the rally from Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Chennai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts, and Puducherry have been informed of the dates on which they may come up for the rally.

In the morning, candidates were all asked to run a distance of 1.6 km in 6 minutes. Those who failed would be terminated from the recruitment process.

Fitness tests

Others would go through other fitness tests. Every day about 3,000 candidates will be attending the rally. Shortlisted candidates will have to go through medical test and then they will be called for written test in September.

District Collector (in-charge) S.Palani made a visited the recruitment rally that is being held in District Sports Complex. Col. Avinash D. Pitre, Director, is at the helm. Lt. Col. (Retd.) K. Gnanasekar, Assistant Director of Ex-servicemen Welfare was present in the rally.
